Working on your holiday shopping list, and stumped when it comes to the little ones? With a two-year old and a one-year old during the upcoming holidays, this mama got a jump start on shopping for my two littles and all our toddler friends! Here is a collection of some great holiday gift options for toddlers for 2019. The majority of my shopping (ok, all of it) is done from my phone during my lunch break at work because time is hard to come by these days. Check out some of our favorites for your own little ones!
Holiday Gift Ideas For Toddlers
My girls and their friends love this tunnel setup! Hours of fun even if your little is on the cautious side. We fill ours with stuffed animals and plastic balls and they love chasing each other through each color. Gets them active and its easy even for babes who are only crawling like my youngest. For moms/dads, easy to open up and put away (under 2 mins for cleanup) and fits into the small carrying bag for easy transfer to play dates.
2. Melissa and Doug Cleaning Set
I am fortunate to have a child obsessed with being the mother hen in this house. She loves to clean alongside mama on the weekends, and teach her sister how to clean up after herself. This cleaning set includes a mop, broom, dustpan, duster, brush, and stand. She even keeps her set in our cleaning closet with the “real” cleaning supplies. For moms/dads, this is great as a teachable toy and also an activity you can do together. Some of my favorite conversations with my two year old happened during our cleaning sessions!
This one surprised with how much my kids love it, and how hysterical it is to watch (especially if you own pets.) This handheld flying drone flies on its own with sensors that allow you to control its movements with your hands. My kids can play with it independently and love trying to catch the drone as it moves away from their hands. Even though the sensors allow it to fly easily, the material is super durable and flexible so it will not damage anything. For moms/dads, keep it charged up with the included charger, and watch the giggles ensue!
4. Kinetic Sand
For various reasons (mostly my germaphobe-ness) a sandbox outside is a no-go for our house. This kinetic sand kit is perfect for littles that love sensory play without the mess and upkeep. The sand texture is super soft and pliable allowing for tons of modeling and building. For moms/dads, the sand lumps together quickly for cleanup with no residue, and lasts for a long time. We still have our original sand and have not had to buy an replacement sand. For mamas, this toy is environmentally friendly, and great for rainy day crafting.
I swear by Columbia fleece jackets for my kiddos, especially for late winter/early spring. Its the perfect lightweight fleece jacket that is super durable, snug, and perfect for wearing in a carseat unlike many thicker jackets. I hand these down from my oldest to my youngest each season, and take the holidays as the best time to size up for them as needed. For mamas, these jackets stay in excellent condition, are easily washed, and are super comfortable for even the pickiest of toddlers.
6. Local Museum/Library Passes
My favorite gifts for any age are experiences. This allows us to lock in quality family time for all of us for weekends/days off during the year. This year we ventured to our local bird sanctuary garden and bird rescue zoo (maybe you’re sensing our kid’s bird fascination) and both local visits were under 15 dollars for all 4 of us to go. Check out your area for library programs, crafting places (kids pottery), bounce/jump areas, nature preserves, etc. and schedule something for all of you so that time doesn’t get away from you. This year we are planning a few local family dates and family swim lessons. For moms/dads, this one does not have to break the bank and still adds tons of memories for you and for them. I like it because it gives us a schedule and something to look forward to when we are not working.
7. Photo Album
The sentimental side of me loves photo albums. Printed, handheld photos in a book that gets flipped through with little fingerprints and crumbs. I like to think this gift is a hit in my household because they take after mama. My girls love looking at pictures of themselves, their friends, mom and dad’s wedding, family, pets etc and spend hours naming off everyone on every page. We spend time adding new photos to our albums and the girls spend nights every week flipping through different moments in time before bed. Gift one that is filled, or an empty one to fill together. For moms/dads, this is another that serves as a gift for you too and is fun to do with your littles.
Growing readers in the house is super important, so we snag new and exciting books whenever possible. One of our new favorites we received as a sweet gift was The Book With No Pictures. It may seem strange with this age group, but trust me when I say that making funny sounds with your mouth while reading with toddlers is bundles of fun. This book brings out the deep belly laughs, and our girls call it the “goofy” book. For moms/dads, this one is super fun to read out loud and gets the imagination train going.
We have some future rock and roll lovers in this house, so this is a perfect find. Combining music and learning with letters and numbers, this gift is awesome and has lots of unique sounds. Set it up in the playroom, and get in on a jam session with your littles! For moms/dads, this one is great for the music lovers and any littles that like to be hands on. Find joy in the noise!
10. Stocking Stuffers: Bath Crayons and Water Activity Pads
We made family stockings for our new house this year, so I loaded up on some stocking stuffers for the girls I knew would be a hit! Bath time is a staple and one of the highlights of the day for both of them, so we now have some new bath crayons and color drops to add some pizzazz to our bathtime routine. I also grabbed a set of Melissa and Doug reusable water activity pads for anytime the girls want to craft and we are needing to reduce mess. For moms/dads, these creative stuffers are safe and easy to manage, while still bringing tons of fun. Put a few in each stocking and get ready for the excitement!
11. Wheely Pig
As a pig mama, this one was a no-brainer and so much fun! There are tons of different bugs/animals and it makes Wilbur’s life easier since my littles are no longer trying to ride him! Multidirectional and super for working on balance and motor skills for the littles.. For moms/dads, tons of fun, no mess (you can wipe it clean) and simply adorable. Something they can ride that isn’t unsafe or as intense as some other ride-able toys.
We have lived most of our lives in the finger lakes of NY, so snow and wintery weather is part of the norm. Hand-me-downs from family and friends are staples for us, but sometimes the winter gear needs an upgrade. We snagged these warm boots for our toddlers and they are perfect! So snug, and withstanding all types of weather. They are easy to put/stay on and they are super high quality for the price. Its also worth all the snowy winter fun to grab some fun outdoor toys like a new sled or this adorable snowman kit!
Hopefully you and your littles have an enjoyable holiday season and share some new adventures together without breaking the bank! Contact me and let me know what you snagged for your toddler from this list of holiday toddler gifts for 2019!
