I will say it again for the people in the back: you shall have ZERO guilt about how you choose to feed your baby. If it’s working for you and it’s working for your little one, then it’s working. In my motherhood journey, what worked for us was some of both. Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey, one I was fortunate enough to take with both of my daughters. I love the tickle of little baby hands around me and the synchronization of my body to theirs. For my littles, I also chose to introduce formula with my babes around the 6th month mark because a) I hate pumping b) I hate pumping at work and in the car c) My body does not produce as well for the pump as it does for my baby. It was the best decision for me and for them. I spent a lot of time looking for a top rated organic baby formula for 2020 for each of my babies.
I also think for moms in the working world like me, society makes it tough to be a breastfeeding mama. If you are able to return to work and make breastfeeding/pumping work for you, I am giving you the ultimate high five. If you are returning to work and crying in the cold pumping room at work while trying to squeeze out a few more drops of milk, I am sending you a big mama bear hug and hoping some of this information will give you a sigh of relief. My pumping at work journey was not a highlight for me.

Choosing A Baby Formula
Choosing a formula to use for my first babe was easily the most stressful part for me. It negatively affected my pumping relationship and quality time while we were getting into our groove due to the mom guilt I felt. I hope to save another mama from wasted mom guilt with what I learned. Since babies are not born with a manual, knowing what to introduce into their little body can be daunting. Especially, if up to that point they have only had your own milk. I spent many weeks researching different formulas and endlessly annoying my husband. I asked him to reassure me a hundred times that all would be fine regardless of my choice. I’m here to talk formulas with you anytime mama!
Whether you decide to breastfeed but want to supplement/switch to formula, or use formula as your solo means of feeding baby, there is a lot that goes into deciding which formula is best. I will clarify I am not a nutritionist or doctor by any means, and every baby is unique. In some cases the choice of which formula works best is up to the baby for various reasons. For me, I struggle to make decisions as simple as where to eat for dinner, so the wide range of formula options with massive ingredient lists made for some challenging days.
Organic Baby Formula
I wanted to select a baby formula that was organic due to my own diet beliefs regarding organic foods. I also had a desire to limit some of the ingredients in the formula to mirror my breastmilk as much as possible. The first main point to note is that organic formula is quite a bit more expensive than other formulas. Since organic was a check box on my list of importance, it was something I factored in when building my monthly budget. For other budgets, you may find a different formula better suited to your needs

Formula Brands
I narrowed my search to organic formulas and found a few options here in the United States including Baby’s Only with Whey and Earth’s Best that had fair ingredient lists but there were still some factors that did not sit easily with me including soy ingredients, palm oil, and taurine (eek!). In general, the baby formulas made here in the U.S do not have to adhere to strict guidelines for their ingredients, so there are several ingredients that are not beneficial for little one’s nutritional goals. Many U.S infant formulas contain processed refined sugars (think corn syrup), synthetic preservatives, synthetic nutrients, and potential neurotoxins including hexane. For in depth resources on organic formula ingredients and up to date news, I highly recommend Anjali’s blog, The Picky Eater . She provides research based, detailed information about top rated organic baby formulas in 2020 and makes sure to provide regular updates to availability or formula changes. She is my go-to resource on this topic!
The second consideration when it comes to selecting a top rated organic baby formula from Europe instead of the U.S is availability. I wanted to find the best company to use for purchasing since you cannot go to your local grocery store. I have used two different companies for both my girls and I absolutely recommend Little Bundle. Little Bundle is so fast, their formula boxes are always clean and well packaged, and they have superior customer service. I have order both HiPP Dutch and German from Little Bundle and I have never run out of formula. If your babe has an adverse reaction to a formula they will swap it out for you. You will not be disappointed with the convenience and quality if you use Little Bundle
Mama guilt is unavoidable, but do not let formula choices be one of the reasons for it. Searching for a top rated organic baby formula in 2020 should be relieving and not adding stress! Hopefully the time I spent worrying and researching about organic formula gives another mama some peace of mind and uninterrupted precious moments with her little one. If you are a HiPP lover, hit me up!
